D41 Consulting is a fractional CEO and business strategy firm founded by Dan Mikus in 2026. Based in the Greater Philadelphia area, D41 serves founders, executives and boards across the United States.
Dan started his career as a social worker. Early on, someone told him social workers never become CEOs. He spent the next 25 years proving that wrong, and learning that the qualities that predict success, such as will, desire and the capacity to grow, rarely show up on a personality test.
Hospital leadership, 2000–2010. As Administrative Director at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, New Jersey, Dan built and ran a wide range of programs: social services, care management, palliative care, inpatient hospice, a sleep center and ambulance services. It was a decade of building programs from scratch and making them work inside a complex, regulated organization.
Hospice operations, 2011–2017. As Administrator at Heartland Hospice Services in New Jersey, Dan led end-of-life care with a focus on compliant growth. His team posted strong gains in average daily census and service quality, and he was recognized for business management and program development.
Building a company, 2017–2026. As CEO and partner of Angelic Health, Dan helped build a hospice organization from almost nothing into a multi-million-dollar company. Nine years as a hospice CEO taught him what boards and founders face when the stakes are real: payroll to meet, surveys to pass, staff to keep, and growth that has to stay compliant.
Teaching. For eight years Dan taught social welfare policy and leadership to undergraduate and graduate students at Stockton University, and he lectured in the MSW program at Rutgers University. He holds a BSW from Evangel University, an MSW from Fordham University and an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University.
Why D41. Dan founded D41 Consulting in 2026 to bring that experience to leaders who need more than advice. D41 works in four practice areas:
- Startup & Established Business Consulting: the operating plan, financial discipline and leadership structure a business needs at its current stage, plus hands-on coaching that helps leaders set clear priorities and succeed long after the engagement ends.
- Interim & Fractional CEO Leadership: a steady hand for transitions, leadership gaps and turnarounds, ready to lead from day one and hand off cleanly.
- Strategic Growth: choosing the next chapter deliberately, whether that means new markets, new capacity or new leadership, and building the plan to get there.
- AI Strategy & Execution: a practical plan for where AI actually helps, followed through to working tools and trained teams. Dan’s own hospice years showed him where AI fits best: tracking the compliance and documentation work that keeps leaders up the night before a survey.
D41’s roots are in hospice and healthcare, and that depth is there when clients need it. The same discipline, financial clarity, steady leadership and values that hold under pressure, carries across professional services, manufacturing and nonprofits. D41 has completed 20+ engagements.
How we work. Every recommendation is filtered through one question: is this actually right, not just effective this quarter? D41 works as an extension of your leadership team, not a consultant who disappears after the deck is delivered. D41 is a Christian-owned business, and that faith shapes how it treats clients, staff and the people a business serves.
